from mcsweeney’s

i’m finding i’m reading a lot more library blogs since i started working at the library, and occasionally scott douglas’ column (whenever he so chooses to update). and here is a quote for you loopy people, related to recent mishaps!

Does the librarian like me?

Probably not. It’s nothing personal. Librarians aren’t usually into people who spend time going to a library. Besides, are you really attracted to the librarian, or are you just attracted to the fact that they work at a library?

ha ha!

  1. You’ve seen The Station Agent? The bespectacled librarian is a potent sexual archetype, so much so that Peter Dinklage is told to buy some reading glasses for Michelle Williams despite her 20/20 vision. Probably something about the meeting of/apparent contrast between bookish intellectualism and carnal passion.
Do you require any correction to your vision?

  2. no, that i have not yet seen. i always thought the librarian was supposed to be asexual. haha!

i have 20/20 vision, even though the other members of my immediate family have to wear glasses at one time or another.

i foolishly wish to be spectacle wearing sometimes when i see fancy black rimmed anna sui glasses in the window of the optometrist.
